What is the best place to stay when visiting Pinehurst
When it comes to choosing accommodations in Pinehurst there is a full gamut of options available . . . and I have tried quite a lot of them.
I’ll start with the most budget conscious options which are the basic run of the mill hotels. Located within 5 miles of the main Pinehurst Resort there is a wide variety of major national chain hotels. You know the type, $80-120 a night, free continental breakfast and maybe if you’re lucky a cookie when you check in. As would be expected you can mostly judge these options based on their national reputations.
Next, we have the local full service hotels that offer a bit more than just a room and a muffin in the morning. In this class you have places like Mid Pines Inn, Pine Needles Lodge and The Pine Crest Inn. These type of hotels are going to have on site food and beverage service and offer more of an all encompassing resort experience.
At the top of the price range for hotels we have the AAA Four-Diamond rated Pinehurst Resort. In addition to The Carolina (the main lodge) the resort also runs The Holly Inn and The Manor which are smaller boutique-ish properties that maintain the same high level of service and quality found in the main lodge. Staying with the resort gives golfers access to all of the resort golf courses including the infamous U.S. Open site Pinehurst #2.
Finally, for those who wish for something a little more home-like than a hotel there is a plethora of home, condo and villa rental options available. A quick Google search will yield a variety of options from the vacation rental by owner variety to real estate companies and even Pinehurst Resort.
