Top 100 Golf Quest E-Newsletter Vol. 13

Well, the Fall is here and the 2011 golf season is winding down to an end. Its been a great year for the Top 100 Golf Odyssey with visits to 14 new Top 100 courses, a couple of return visits to some favorites and a whole bunch of local golf thrown in for good measure. The year started up early with the trip to Florida back in February so I’ve packed it in a little prematurely and am taking the Fall off from golf travel for the most part.

As far as my progress goes I played Fisher’s Island Club this past Friday which puts me at 70 courses completed. I’m planning a quick trip to Las Vegas in December to play Shadow Creek which will put me at 71 courses played and 29 remaining. I suspect things are going to slow down a little bit as I’m winding down to the end. These final 29 courses are the last ones for a reason. In some cases I don’t have a solid member contact and in others the location of the course is such that the travel is not easy. I’m planning for the final stretch of this quest to be the most challenging.

Although Fishers Island Club is the only new Top 100 course I’ve played since my last newsletter update, I have added a couple of new posts to my website for courses I played earlier in the year. The links are below:

Riviera Country Club / Pacific Palisades, CA (1926)
Oakmont Country Club / Oakmont, PA (1903)
Estancia Club / Scottsdale, AZ (1995)
Forest Highlands / Flagstaff, AZ (1988)
Blackwolf Run (River Course) / Kohler, WI (1990)
The Country Club / Brookline, MA (1895/1902)

Next to go up on the site will be Myopia Hunt Club, Boston Golf Club, Old Sandwich Golf Club and Fishers Island Club. I’m still a little behind with posting about the courses I’ve played this year, but plan to get caught up over the next few weeks.

For those of you on Facebook there is a page for The Itinerant Golfer and whenever I post updates it will show up on your news feed if you “like” the page.

I hope everyone had a great Summer and if you are in Richmond please let me know because I’ll be here all Fall. Thanks again to everyone for all of your support and assistance this season. Stay safe and have fun!
