I often get asked how to play Top 100 golf courses and I always say that there is no real secret. In my experience I have found that by and large it’s mostly a matter of luck. That said, sometimes there are opportunities to play Top 100 courses that don’t require anything but having some cash and a willingness to help a good cause. One of those opportunities is happening right now.
The American Cancer Society will be putting on a charity event at Olympia Fields on Monday July 22nd featuring an auction that includes numerous opportunities to play some very exclusive Top 100 golf courses . . . 17 to be exact. The auction items include opportunities to purchase rounds at Merion Golf Club, Prairie Dunes, Shoal Creek, Butler National, Riviera, Winged Foot, Chicago Golf Club, Rich Harvest Farms, Calusa Pines, Olympia Fields, Inverness, Grandfather Golf & Country Club, Crooked Stick, Muirfield Village, The Honors Course, Medinah #3, and Whistling Straits.
Luckily for those of us not in the Chicagoland area the modern marvel of the Internet allows us to get in on the bidding action. If you click HERE you will find a listing of all the items up for auction and details on how to register to bid electronically. Be sure to check out the non-Top 100 golf items as well. There are other great courses, some cool collectibles and several unique celebrity experiences as well.
Good luck if you’re attending or bidding electronically. My mother is a cancer survivor as well as several of my very close friends so the American Cancer Society is something near and dear to my heart. Please support the cause and have a little fun while you’re at it!!!
