Is there anything to do besides golf?
As difficult as it may be to believe, not everyone who comes to Bandon Dunes wants to play golf until they drop. I personally don’t know any of these people, but I have been lead to believe that they do indeed exist. For those who are only interested in 18 holes a day or might want to take a day off from the links during their visit there are a number of non-golf activities available in the area.
Onsite the resort offers a fitness center with a variety of weights and cardio machines as well as a Jacuzzi and sauna for visitors who like to relax or loosen up with a little heat. For those who wish to venture outdoors, but not necessarily for golf, the resort has a series of trails that wind through the woods, dunes or along the ocean and offer varying degrees of strenuousness and length.
Visitors who elect to stray from the resort will have a variety of options available to them that include fishing, water sports/activities, wildlife and bird watching, site seeing and shopping. There is even a casino in nearby Coos Bay. It’s not exactly a Las Vegas style casino, but if you like to gamble it will do. I hear it’s best to avoid the “nightclub” in Coos Bay, Bachelor’s Inn. Locals often refer to this establishment as the “B.I.” . . . short for Bad Idea.
Fortunately, Bandon Dunes has a concierge service that is knowledgeable about all the non-golf activities available both onsite and offsite so if you need to plan for non-golf activities during your visit I strongly suggest working with the concierge to sort out all the details.
