Jimmy Ferguson

Hi, I’m Jimmy Ferguson and as you probably guessed I love golf! About the only things that rival my love for the game are my wife and Boston sports. Between golf and sports, I can get pretty worked up and excited, but thankfully my wife serves as a balancing force!

Before I get into my golf story, I will tell you a little about myself. As I mentioned above, I love Boston sports. I am also a proud Clemson alumni and love college football - specifically my Clemson Tigers. Other things that keep my interest include reading about history and golf, watching movies and television and traveling to new places which fits in nicely with my love of golf.

I started playing golf when I was nine years old and have been hooked ever since. I played in college for a short spell, but today, I am all about fun golf - as evidenced by my inflated handicap! My love of playing different courses began early on when I traveled to different courses for high school matches and played summer tournaments around New Hampshire. Many New Hampshire courses are welcoming to juniors and I was fortunate to be able to play a great deal of public and private courses early in my life. This sparked an affinity for trying new courses and seeing what they have to offer.

I look forward to contributing to this site as much as possible, since that would mean that I am visiting more new courses! I hope you enjoy my writings and I look forward to your feedback.

Pebble Beach Golf Links

Written by Jimmy Ferguson
Almost everyone who has ever picked up a golf club has heard of Pebble Beach. Those that haven’t may have been living under a rock. There are many great books available about Pebble Beach, so I'll just give the very short story here. The course was designed by two first time architects Jack Neville & Douglas Grant - and what a job they did! Since opening in 1919, their maiden course has hosted five U.S. Opens and four U.S. Amateurs which is not too shabby for a couple of first More >

Longaberger Golf Club

Written by Jimmy Ferguson
While in the area for the Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village, my wife and I needed to find a place to play before heading back home to South Carolina. Since I didn’t have any contacts at the Top 100 courses in the Columbus area, I pulled out Top 100 public course ratings to see what I could find. I'm really glad I did that because otherwise I would have never found and played Longaberger Golf Club. An interesting side note about this course is that the name comes from the More >

Pasatiempo Golf Club

Written by Jimmy Ferguson
Pasatiempo was a course I discovered when reading up on the Top 100 public course lists and upon closer review have heard it raved about by many in the golf media. The course currently ranks on Golf Magazine's Top 100 and both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest's Top 100 courses you can play lists. Being just about an hour up the road from the Monterey Peninsula, Pasatiempo makes a perfect addition to any Pebble Beach golf trip. Incidentally, the name of the course translates to hobby or pastime which seems More >
